Crucible Membership

The Crucible is a members-only organization. Almost all events are members only. Membership allows you to attend events at the club as well as bring one guest with you.
To become a member, sign up online and check in with the membership table when you next come in to pay for your membership and get your membership card.

Security at The Crucible

We have had several reports of credit cards and other valuables being taken from our coat room, which as you know, is unattended. We encourage you to check your accounts for unusual or suspicious activity. We also encourage you to keep your wallet with you in the club. We are adding additional lockers to provide more secure storage options; please plan to bring your own lock.

Dungeon 101

Are you new to BDSM, public play, or The Crucible?
Dungeon 101 is The Crucible’s monthly outreach night, designed to help you feel at ease as you explore public play. Dungeon 101 is open to anyone 18 or older who is interested in learning more about BDSM and The Crucible.
All attendees must show a government-issued photo ID.
This is an 18+ event and no alcohol is sold or permitted.
To foster a learning environment, sex is not allowed for the duration of the event.
No advance tickets are necessary or available, admission is at the door ($25 for Crucible members, $35 for non-members, $10 with Gateway card).

Covid-19 Policy

Beginning January 2, 2024, The Crucible will no longer require proof of covid-19 vaccination.
We encourage individuals to make sure they are up-to-date with their boosters per CDC guidelines. As always, if you have symptoms of covid-19 or other airborne illnesses, please stay home. Individuals who wish to wear masks in the club are of course welcome to do so. If you have any questions about this policy, please reach out to info@the-crucible.com.

  • Black Rose Gateway
    April 2, 2026  7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

    BR Gateway is a special Black Rose meeting intended for individuals (18 and older) who are either new to BDSM or new to the DC kink scene. BR Gateway is designed to facilitate getting your questions answered. Attendees at this event tend to be from diverse ages, backgrounds, genders, orientations, and more — everyone is welcome.  The meeting is an informal discussion and there is nothing you have to bring. Casual or business attire is more appropriate, scene wear is not appropriate.https://br.org/br/gateway/
    Gateway attendees receive a coupon for discounted admission to Dungeon 101 and a Black Rose Tuesday night class.
    ASL Interpreters are available upon request. Please give us two weeks notice. Email ASL@br.org for more information.

  • Dungeon 101

    Dungeon 101 serves as an introduction into public BDSM play. If you have never attended a public BDSM play event, it can be a bit daunting. The Dungeon 101 class is specifically designed to make you feel comfortable at your first public BDSM dungeon event. Attendees and presenters come from a diverse cross section of the community, all orientations, genders and kinks are welcome. You are welcome to come alone, bring a friend or bring a bunch of friends.

    From 7:30 until 8:00 PM will be social time. Starting at 8:00 PM, there will be a talk on scene etiquette and an opportunity to learn about the dungeon itself. Directly following will be a "Exploratorium" event until 11:00 PM where you can try and/or experience many different kinds of play scenes. The idea is for it to be a fun evening for everyone!

    No advance tickets are available for this event -  please plan to arrive early and pay at the door.

    $10 with Gateway card,
    $25 members with membership card,
    $35 all others

    More experienced folk come on out after 11:00 PM for Open Play. We ask that everyone except presenters keep their toy bags put away until Open Play starts to avoid confusion. No scenes or play permitted during the Exploratorium.

    This is an outreach event, you do not need to be a BR or Crucible member to attend.

    In order to foster a learning environment, there is no sex allowed at Dungeon 101, and no alcohol is sold. This applies all night, even during open play after the Exploratorium has concluded.

    Sinfully Naughty Playductions hosts monthly play parties at The Crucible. Each month, expect a great party with a fun theme, snacks, games & prizes, demo stations, and more!

  • Hitchin' Bitches

    Hitchin' Bitches is for women and non-binary folks interested in tying, being tied and who self-tie. Men may accompany attendees as bottoms, but may not tie or participate in any discussions other than as bottoms. Men are only allowed at the invitation of an attending top.

  • Matriarxy

    MATRIARXY is a play-party and mixer for Dommes, Alpha femmes and all who adore and admire us.

    More than just an event; we are a movement, cultivating a vibrant community rooted in respect, consent and the joyful expression of femme sovereignty.

    •    MATRIARXY with an “X” intentionally and explicitly invites and affirms all femme-aligned identities, not limited to binary definitions of gender, to embrace and express their dominance.
    •    Femme sovereignty meaning – femmes (women and femme-aligned individuals) are recognized as the rightful leaders and curators of the space.

    MATRIARXY is for:

    •    Experienced Dommes and Alpha femmes seeking a high-energy playground
    •    New and emerging Dommes and Alpha femmes ready to explore and express their power
    •    Submissives and bottoms of all varieties seeking to socialize and play with Dommes and Alpha femmes

    MATRIARXY key rules:

    •    No pay-for-play or transactional discussions allowed.
    •    Play is encouraged but never guaranteed.
    •    Only femme-identifying TOPS during MATRIARXY events.
    •    All may "bottom", regardless of gender identity.
